Starting our journey
with excitement and anxiety 26 of us from Bangalore headed to Coorg – Jungle
Mount Homestay in 2 vehicles and a truck carrying the bicycles and few bicycles
mounted on the Tempo Traveler. After 6 hours we reached Jungle Mount Resort at
6AM where we witnessed God’s amazing creation.. and were greeted by Green
surroundings, Morning Mist, and Fresh air the lungs longed for..
Day 1 – Saturday –
Cycling(40Km) and Rappelling
The group started for
their first leg of the cycling – 7 Km that screeched through the county side of
the village. A journey where the end meant nothing and the route meant all …
The rain God showering the blessings to sooth the body with chilled drops of
water. The locals watching in amusement as we passed by in our bicycles ..A
Ariel view would have pictured us cyclists as colorful butterflies in the
Greenery.
From the county side
we enter the city roads to meet the Rappelling point.. While some cruised to
the point, few enjoyed the terrain and motivation to complete the distance.. At
the end of it waited the Water fall and an encouraging team to support the
rappelling..
While most took the
path back to the resort in a truck, few ganged up to take the hard path
and cycle back. Though the saddle had done its job of us appreciating our
buttocks ..The icing of the cake was the tea stop.. An interesting tale to
share here too.. while it looked like a stop for 2 in the gang to have tea, it
turned out to be the best tea tasted lately by the gang. What initially seemed
to be a small bill, ended up with the whole vada’s been taken and all having 3
cups of Tea/Coffee..
Day2 – Sunday –
Trekking
The morning began with
the bright sky welcoming us and all refusing a seat even when offered, eagerly
waiting for their cup of tea..…After a good Breakfast, off was the team to what
is the highest peak in Coorg – Tadiandamol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadiandamol
Tadiandamol is the highest peak of the district at 5,724 ft about 1748m above sea level. The highest peak in Coorg and poses an exciting challenge to seasoned trekkers. This is the second highest in Karnataka. Located in The Western Ghats. .The peak is located in the south-eastern part of Coorg and is 8 km from the town of Kakkabe which is 35 km from Madikeri.
While the Leeches were
quick to find feed in few of us, some escaped with the preparation of Dettol
sprayed on legs and Lime stone.. Along the way up, the clouds kissed our face
and the mist brought back the freshness and youthfulness.. After a 2hrs trek we
reached the top peak and there we were in the clouds and heaven so close..
The nights were high
in spirits, Karaoke and food. We discovered many great India talents in the
process.
Leaving behind the
beauty of nature and the freshness of the air, we headed back carrying memories
of two days of energy, twinge, laughter and fun all in one package..
A BIG THANK YOU!.
